Dream on Me Casco 3 in 1 Crib Combo Review

Convertible cribs like the Casco 3 in 1 have become the vogue nowadays. Moneywise, they’re relatively cheaper than having 3 separate pieces of furniture combined. However, not all convertibles are complete by themselves. You may still have to buy some of the parts just to make them fully convertible.

Dream On Me Casco 3 in 1 Mini Crib and Dressing Table Combo

By the name itself, you’ll know that this crib is smaller than the regular ones. That goes for the mattress and changing pads as well. Some of the reasons for having a “mini” crib include limited bedroom space, sharing the same bedroom with the baby, or trying to stay on budget. Like most cribs, it does have some pros and cons, so it’s always wise to weigh them carefully before making the order.

The crib itself is very elegant, attractive, and expensive-looking. It’s made of solid wood (pine), weighs around 30 kg, and has a smooth lustrous finish. Note that pine is a little softer than hardwood but more preferable and much safer than engineered wood or composites. Due to the crib’s smaller dimensions, finding a mattress that perfectly matches the size may take a little bit more searching. It does have a changing pad for the baby changer but it’s really thin and flimsy. You’ll just have to buy separately if you prefer a thicker one for your baby.

As a safety standard, the side rails are fixed. So instead of lowering the side rail, you can change the level of the platform in three different settings. Typically, you’ll start with the highest level and lower it down as your baby grows.

To use it as a daybed, simply set the platform to its lowest and take off the side rail. As a grown-up, twin-sized bed, you’re going to need a larger bed frame and a twin-sized mattress, each sold separately. Later on you can convert the baby changer into a nightstand by detaching it from the bed and adding an extra pair of wooden uprights

Like most cribs with baby changers, it also has three spacious drawers underneath for your baby’s needs and belongings and three shelves for extra space on the other side. The baby changer has safety straps in case you need to turn around or do something else.

Since this is a mini crib, your baby could outgrow the baby changer or the crib much sooner compared to a full sized crib. But that depends really on a case-to-case basis. If it’s not so much of a big deal, this one is actually great for space-saving and cost-effectiveness.

Assembly time for this crib could take longer because the instructions that goes with it is not so detailed and you may have to do some trial-and-error to get it right. Building the crib can also be a challenge since it has a different way of joining the pieces together, although it’s pretty stable in the end. Overall, it’s a very good crib and baby-changer set to have. It’s ideal for those who want to optimize room space and spend a lot less.
